Links, Shortcuts & Embeds

Not everything related to your research needs to be copied into a Vault. Sometimes it is better to keep a resource where it already lives and simply connect it to your Board. Bentowise supports several ways to do this, depending on whether you want to reference, preview, navigate, or return to a specific piece of work. The main options are: Web Links / Embeds / Board Shortcuts / Deep Links Each serves a different purpose.

Web Links & Bookmarks

The simplest option is to add a webpage as a Link. Bentowise can turn a URL into a recognizable bookmark so it can sit alongside related notes, images, and other research material. This works well for:

• Research articles
• News
• Product pages
• Online reports
• Video pages
• Other web-based references

For example, you can place several source links next to a conclusion they support, keeping the evidence and your judgment in the same context. A web Link mainly stores a reference to a remote resource. Having a link on a Board does not mean the full webpage has been saved inside the Vault.

Embeds

Sometimes you want more than a link. You want to view or interact with external content directly inside the Board. This is where Embeds are useful. Typical examples include:

• Videos
• Maps
• Online presentations
• Data visualizations
• Other web content that supports embedding

Common sources may include YouTube or Vimeo videos, map services, and other websites that provide Embed or iframe support. Embedding lets you keep external content close to the notes, evidence, or analysis it relates to, without constantly leaving the Board. Whether something can be embedded depends on whether the external website allows it. A simple way to think about the difference is: Links are better for saving access points. Embeds are better for viewing content directly on the Board.

Board Shortcuts

As your research grows, it is often better to use multiple focused Boards rather than putting everything into one very large Board. A Board Shortcut creates a quick path from one Bentowise Board to another. For example, a high-level research Board might link to:

• A dedicated company research Board
• A detailed financial analysis Board
• A timeline Board
• A Board focused on source material

This keeps each Board focused on its own context while still making related work easy to reach. You can think of a Board Shortcut as: An entry point from one Board to another.

Deep Links

The previous options mostly help you connect from Bentowise to other resources. A Deep Link works in the opposite direction: it lets other apps link back into Bentowise. Bentowise can generate links to an entire Board or even to a specific Block. You can paste these links into other tools, such as:

• Notes
• Documents
• Task managers
• Calendar events
• Project materials
• Chat messages

When opened on a device with Bentowise installed, a Deep Link launches Bentowise and takes you directly to the relevant Board or Block. For example, you might place a Deep Link to a research Board inside a calendar event. When the meeting begins, one click takes you straight back to the material you need. You can also reference a specific Bentowise Block from an external document, creating a direct connection between your broader workflow and the exact piece of research inside Bentowise.
