Bentowise does not provide its own cloud sync service. Because a Vault is simply a local folder, you can use any third-party file sync tool you already trust to keep the entire Vault in sync across multiple devices. For example:
  • iCloud Drive
  • OneDrive
  • Dropbox
  • Syncthing
  • other tools that can sync local folders

How It Works

The simplest setup is to place the entire Vault inside a folder managed by your sync service. The sync tool handles transferring the Boards, images, attachments, and other local resources in the Vault to your other devices. Once syncing is complete on another computer, open the same Vault folder in Bentowise. Bentowise itself does not upload your files or require a separate Bentowise cloud account. Your sync service handles synchronization. Bentowise reads and manages the local files after they arrive.

Sync the Entire Vault

We recommend syncing the entire Vault folder. DO NOT sync only Boards or selected resources. A Board may reference images, attachments, and other files stored elsewhere inside the Vault. If only the Board data is synced, some content may be missing. A simple rule is: Treat the Vault as a single unit when syncing.

Let Sync Finish First

When switching between devices, it is best to let your sync service finish before you continue editing. This is especially important after making large changes, adding attachments, or moving resources. Try to avoid editing the same Board on two devices at the same time. Bentowise relies on file synchronization rather than real-time collaboration. If the same file is changed on multiple devices at once, conflict handling depends on the sync tool you use.

Local Files on Every Device

Even when you use a cloud storage provider, Bentowise still works in a local-first way. On each device, Bentowise opens a local Vault. The cloud drive or sync service simply keeps those local files aligned across devices. This means you can choose the sync setup that fits your workflow instead of being locked into a Bentowise-specific cloud service. Your sync, your storage, your vault.
